In Memoriam

Next time you step into the library, stop and take a look around at the collection, over 16,000 items and they were all cataloged by one very special man, Mike Rose. Sadly, last week, we lost our dear co-worker and friend. He was retired with a PHD and MD to his name, but joyfully donated two days a week for the last twenty years to our library. Devoted and irreplaceable, Mike was over-the-top thorough and excellent in every aspect of his cataloging. He created all the detailed data on our spine labels, filled in extra information on every item's "Notes", created our "Classic" section, and our "Core" classification. He was never too busy to be kind and welcoming to all who wanted to chat with him in the office. Mike has our deepest respect!  I can't even express how much he will be missed! Next week we will devote our main display to his "Favorites".

Children's Program at the GCL

Our third installment of the popular children's program is April 18th and it will be an "eggcellent" adventure for the kids. Please join us from 11:00 to 12:30 at the library. There is also a community Easter egg hunt at Glenwood park on the 19th so the fun can go on for an "eggstended" time. We just can't get enough of these egg puns.

Bring your kids, grandkids, or children's group, and join us for a great time.

The Annex grand opening was held on November 16th.  We had children's activities, wonderful donated door prizes, books/DVDs/CDs for sale by donation, and we shared the history of our library from the beginning to the new Annex now open during regular library hours.  The Annex will offer the following.

  • collection expansion
  • reservable private office available for Zoom meetings
  • community meeting room
  • children's play area
  • book + DVD + CD store
